China strengthens coast guard near Taiwan islands. The move is a further measure taken in response to the February 14 accident that claimed the lives of two Chinese fishermen.

The islands are under Taiwan's control but just a few miles off the coast of Fujian. According to observers, the accident should be considered as an opportunity that allowed the People's Republic to increase pressure on Taiwan, considered a rebel province and an "inalienable" part of its territory to be reunified even by force, if necessary.
