The European Court of Human Rights will decide whether or not to condemn Switzerland for climate inaction. No international court has condemned a state for its lack of action on climate matters.

Two other cases summoning several European states, including France, for their failures in the fight against global warming, will be judged. Although the number of climate-related legal cases doubled between 2017 and 2022, no international court had ever condemned a country for its inaction on the issue. The European Court will decide tomorrow if Switzerland should be condemned.
