Climbing 50 steps every day reduces the risk of heart attack and stroke by up to 32 percent. The World Health Organization recommends 21 minutes of exercise daily.

Climbing more than five floors (approximately 50 steps) daily was associated with a lower risk of ASCVD, regardless of disease susceptibility. “Participants who stopped climbing stairs between the start of the study and the repeat survey (editor’s note: a repeat survey was conducted five years after the study) had a higher risk ofASCVD compared to those who never climbed stairs,” said the researchers.
