Plans for a direct flight between Tel Aviv and the Philippines have been put on hold. The delay is due to the outbreak of a deadly virus in the Philippines.

The virus is believed to have killed more than 1,000 people in the country last year. The number of Israelis visiting the Philippines is expected to double by the end of the decade to 1.2 million. It is expected that the number of tourists to the Philippines will rise to 2.5 million by the year's end.
