More and more countries are banning the popular app TikTok. In the USA, the app is now to be completely banned in the state of Montana.
Data security is often emphasized as an argument, because the parent company Bytedance is suspected of passing on user data to the Chinese government. The company denies this, as reported by Deutsche Welle, among others, but in many countries security concerns predominate. In some countries, TikTok is already completely banned. In India, there has been a blanket ban on the app since 2020 due to security concerns.
