Wage demands from trade unions are reflected in collective bargaining results. In the public sector, for example, the trade union ver.di speaks of a wage increase of 11.5%.

In the Bavarian automotive trade, the IG Metall trade union reports an 8.6% increase in wages plus a one-off inflation bonus totalling 2,500 euros. The cost of living in Switzerland is more expensive than in Germany. Many employees who, as so-called cross-border commuters, do not move to Switzerland, but continue to live in Germany and work in Switzerland.
