Eric Carmen, leader of the Raspberries and author of memorable guitar pop songs, dies. The American, who has died at the age of 74, left a glorious repertoire in the seventies and in the eighties he specialized in commercial pop that triumphed in the voices of Céline Dion and in soundtracks such as 'Dirty Dancing' Carmen, who leaves behind a wife and two children, had not released albums with new songs for more than two decades.

The family has not reported the reason for death.
