Erri De Luca is a great Italian writer. He was active until 1976 in the revolutionary far-left movement Lotta continua (Struggle continues) While working as a worker, he is the author of a work haunted by the shadows of the Second World War, the Holocaust and past revolutionary struggles.

An avid reader and non-believer of the Bible, he has published novels and poems as well as meditations on the Old Testament and translations from Hebrew and Yiddish.
