The EU institutions have reached agreement on the new directive on air quality. This was announced by the rotating presidency of Belgium.

Smog is responsible for 300 thousand deaths a year in Europe. There are more severe limits for pollutants such as fine particulate matter PM2.5, quality criteria of air by 2030 closer to the WHO guidelines, according to the draft text of the air quality directive by the European Commission and the European Council for the Future of Air Quality and of the Air Quality Act of 2015.
