A new police agreement with Germany will ensure drastic penalties in the Alpine country. A maximum speed of 120 kilometers per hour is permitted on Swiss motorways, outside of urban areas the speed limit is 80 and 50 km/h in urban areas. If you exceed speed limit significantly, you could face fines, imprisonment or the withdrawal of your vehicle or driving license.
