The fire that began on January 25 in the northwest of Chubut consumed nearly 8,000 hectares of native forest and shrub formation. The authorities assure that there are climatic factors that collaborate, but they do not rule out that the flames could rekindle.

Currently there are 473 agents involved in the operation to contain the flames, of which 383 are on the combat front and the rest are in logistical support. The authorized tourist services operate normally, and motorists are recommended to drive with extreme caution on the section of Provincial Route 71.
