Cravings, fatigue, and skin problems are possible signs that you're overdoing the sweets. The World Health Organization recommends consuming a maximum of 50 grams of sugar per day. Just like the German Society for Nutrition (DGE), the World Diabetes Society also recommends consuming just 25 grams per day on average. The Federal Institute for Nutrition says adults in Germany consume around 33.8 kilograms of sugar a year.
