French painter and writer Françoise Gilot died on Tuesday at the age of 101. Gilot was Pablo Picasso's companion for ten years and the mother of his children Claude and Paloma.

She was the author of a book entitled Life with Picasso, published in 1964. In 2021, a work of his titled Paloma con una guitarra sold for $1.3 million at auction at Sotheby's. The painter suffered from lung and heart problems, his daughter Aurelia explained today.
