Starting September 1, policyholders will be able to choose between at least four hospitals. In the fields of mental health, pediatric surgery, neurosurgery and IVF treatments - the patient will be entitled to choose any hospital he wishes.

The Ministry of Health says the move is supposed to improve service and accessibility to it, and reduce inequality. The process was initiated by former Health Minister Rabbi Aryeh Deri when he took office, with the aim of improving accessibility and quality of care and reducing service gaps.
