Giovanni Azzone is the new president of Acri, the association of banking foundations and savings banks. He replaces Francesco Profumo, who was elected by acclamation by the assembly that had just ended.

He is the president of the Cariplo foundation, which is owned by the Italian banking giant Banca Popolare di Lampedusa. He was also the head of the Italian Bankers' Association, which was set up to promote the development of Italian banks in the 1990s.
