"The Boy from Paradise" is a thriller set in Cairo's Al-Azhar University. The film was written and directed by Swedish-Egyptian Tariq Saleh.

The story is inspired by Umberto Eco's classic "The Name of the Rose" The film won the Best Screenplay award at last year's Cannes Film Festival, and was Sweden's representative to the Oscar ceremony. It was directed by Saleh and stars Tawfiq Barhoum and Makram Khoury.
