Argentine artist Nicolas Garcia Uriburu "colored" the water of the Grand Canal of Venice. He used a pigment that made the microorganisms present in the water phosphorescent.

He later performed similar performances in Paris, Rio de la Plata, the Riachuelo of Buenos Aires and the Grand Louvre of Paris. He died in 2016, at the age of 80. The color green is a symbol of universal ecology, he said in an interview with ANSA on Monday.
