5,167 heat-related deaths were recorded last June, July and August. The vast majority of them concern people aged at least 75.

Over the summers of 2014 to 2022, around 33,000 deaths linked to high temperatures in total had been identified (including nearly 7,000 in the summer of 2022). A heavy toll for 2023: the 2nd hottest summer ever measured in France had serious consequences. The vast most of these deaths observed during last summer's heat waves concerned people aged least 75 years old.
