Ukrainian black metal bands 1914 and White Ward were forced to give up their performance at France's largest music festival. The Ukrainian group was supposed to perform during the 16th edition of Hellfest, scheduled from 15 to 18 June 2023 in Loire-Atlantique.
The 1914 group blamed the Ukrainian Ministry of Culture: "I hope you will soon cease to exist as a stupid relic of the Soviet bureaucratic system" White Ward participated in the war effort by donating part of its proceeds to Ukraine.
