From today 16 million Italians will be able to ask for a passport to be issued directly at the post office. The project, intended for municipalities with fewer than 15 thousand inhabitants, was presented this morning in Rome.

In total, when fully operational, the project will involve 6,993 post offices throughout Italy. "Polis will be remembered as a fundamental piece of the country's progress, especially in the relationship between public administration and private companies", said the president of Poste Italiane, Silvia Maria Rovere.
