In the first quarter of 2024, Italy reported 213 measles cases. The national incidence was 14.5 cases per million inhabitants.

The highest incidence was observed in the 0-4 year age group. Eleven of the reported cases are healthcare workers, six of whom are unvaccinated. No cases of rubella were reported in Italy in the same period. The transmission occurred mainly within the family. Twenty cases occurred following transmission in a hospital setting, 19 in a work setting, 13 cases during international travel and six cases in a school setting.
