In the EU only 10% believe in a defeat for Moscow, according to a Guardian poll. The most probable end to the conflict will come with a "compromise agreement," says the study.

The survey highlights that pessimism about the outcome of the war is fueled by a Ukrainian counteroffensive that has not yielded the expected results. In Sweden, Portugal and Poland respondents are more likely to say that Europe should continue to assist the country militarily, while in Hungary (64%) and Greece (59%), Italy and Austria (49%) prefer to push Kiev to accept an agreement.
