CEO of US giant Kellogg's, Gary Pilnick, has encouraged consumers to eat cereal in the evening to cope with inflation. Beyond the opportunism of the advice, there is reason to question it from a nutritional point of view.

Industrial cereals are mainly ultra-processed, resulting from an industrial process which destroys what is called the "matrix" of the food. These cereals, often puffed, are also very sweet. “Their so-called “empty” calories will cause a spike in blood sugar, which will drop just as quickly and cause fatigue and cravings,” says dietitian nutritionist.
