Istat, inflation eats away family wealth, -12% in 2022 - Last minute. At the end of 2022, the net wealth of Italian families amounted to 10,421 billion euros.
Compared to 2021, it decreased by 1.7% in nominal terms, but due to inflation, the drop in real terms, using the consumer price index as a deflator, was much more marked and equal to -12.5%. This is stated in the Note from Istat and Banca d'Italia on the "wealth of the main institutional sectors 2005-2022"
