Istat, inflation eats away family wealth, -12% in 2022. At the end of 2022, the net wealth of Italian families amounted to 10,421 billion euros.
Compared to 2021, it decreased by 1.7% in nominal terms, but due to inflation, the decline in real terms, using the consumer price index as a deflator, was much more marked and equal to -12, 5%. Net wealth is the difference between gross wealth (financial and non-financial assets) and financial liabilities.
