It's so easy to cook applesauce in the oven. Simply cook the fruit in screw-top jars that you have left over at home.

Choose aromatic, juicy apple varieties that have a slightly sour note, for example Elstar and Boskop. The riper the fruits are, the more sugar they contain. The less sugar you use, the shorter the applesouce will last. If you store the applesauces in a cool, dark place, it will last for a few months.
