Jaap van Zweden appointed head of the Radio France Philharmonic Orchestra. The 63-year-old Dutch conductor will succeed Finnish Mikko Franck from the 2025-2026 season.

Radio France said it appreciated “its attachment to creation, to the development of new audiences and its commitment to supporting children with disabilities” The violinist, known for his mastery of the classical repertoire, became a conductor late in life, after 17 years as concertmaster of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra in Amsterdam.
