People who regularly eat a balanced breakfast tend to have more stable blood sugar levels throughout the day. This effect could help reduce the risk of type 2 diabetes.

A balanced meal in the morning that contains complex carbohydrates, protein and healthy fats will prevent cravings later in the day, according to nutritionists. A Chinese research team led by Tong Liu from Capital Medical University in Beijing has come to the conclusion that skipping breakfast has a cancer-promoting effect. The research team does not see the causes for this in the diet itself or in demographic factors. They cite inflammatory processes in the body as a possible reason. Also an infection with the pathogen Helicobacter pylori promotes the development of gastrointestinal tumors. However, the study leaders did not have detailed information about how many study participants were infected, which distorts the study results.
