The decree was signed by the Minister of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Forestry, Francesco Lollobrigida. It will allow hundreds of Italian wine companies to take advantage of the extension to 30 June 2024 of the deadline for using labels already printed prior to the adoption of the new European legislation from last December.

"The labels already provide all the useful information to consumers through a specific QR code and throwing them away for waste without a real reason would have significant economic damage to the entire supply chain," declared Lollobigida.
