Margot Robbie's production company, LuckyChap, will partner with the publisher of the famous board game Hasbro in this project. The announcement of the film based on Monopoly was made during Comicon, the annual film trade show currently taking place in Las Vegas.

Few elements have filtered for the moment, neither on the scenario nor on the casting. The only certainty: the film will be live-action. The adaptation project, in the works of Hasbro Entertainment and studio Lionsgate Entertainment since 2015, could gain new momentum with the arrival of Margot Robbie’s production company. The Sims will be directed by Kate Herron, known for her work in the Marvel series Loki and her few episodes of the Netflix series Sex Education. It will be based on the popular video game of the 2000s, The Sims, available in 37 languages and sold more than 275 million copies. In addition to this project, Lucky Chap is working on another film based upon the iconic video game The Sims.
