Apple is discontinuing its free cloud photo service. There is an alternative – but it comes at a cost.

Apple introduced the feature in 2011, and from June 26, support for Photo Stream will be gradually phased out. The images are not lost from the end of June, as long as users have the device with the original photos. Most recently, the U.S. company was targeted by the authorities: France's judiciary is investigating on suspicion of targeted product wear and tear on iPhones.
