The mother of the four children rescued after 40 days of wandering in the jungle in Colombia survived four days of the plane crash, before succumbing to her injuries. The children had flown with their mother to flee threats from the FARC dissent, which rejects the historic peace agreement signed in 2016 with the Marxist guerrilla.
The location of the mother's body is still unclear, but soldiers found him between 15 and 16 May in the south of the department of Caqueta. The pilot was found dead in the cockpit, without the soldiers saying exactly where.
