The enlistment of around 150,000 new recruits in Russia is part of the normal spring draft call. The Ministry of Defense specified this in a note released on its Telegram channel.
Vice Admiral Vladimir Tsimlyansky, deputy head of the Organization Department, stressed that recruits will not be deployed in the new regions or in the special military operation. At the end of 2023, President Vladimir Putin said that two thirds of the 617,000 military personnel employed in Ukraine are professionals who enlisted under contract.
