The Building Energy Act is intended to advance climate protection in Germany. Existing heating devices do not need to be replaced for the time being.

From January, only heating systems that are operated with at least 65 percent renewable energies may be installed. Heating with fossil fuels will only be allowed until the end of 2044. From 2045, every building must be heated in a climate-neutral way. The switch to renewable heating methods must take place gradually in every building within the next 20 years.
