Operation against the 'Ndrangheta in Reggio Calabria, arrests. 16 in prison, one under house arrest and one forced.
Various crimes are contested including mafia association, murder, extortion, usury, illegal possession of weapons and fictitious registration of assets. There are 40 suspects in the investigation coordinated by the prosecutor Giovanni Bombardieri and the deputy Walter Ignazitto. The Flying Squad and the Carabinieri are involved in the operation. The operation took place in "Gallicò" - a neighborhood on the northern outskirts of the city.
