Bruno Dumont's sense of humor has not always been well understood. Since his series P'tit Quinquin the director has nevertheless tried to make people laugh.
Dumont persists and signs with The Empire, presented as the ch'ti version of Star Wars. The Empire is in the running for the Golden Bear which will be awarded on Saturday February 24. “This is not a parody of Star wars,” said Bruno Dumont in Berlin. ‘I wanted to make a science fiction film, because I really like space operas which are a way of tackling complex questions like the origin of the world, while remaining in my terrestrial universe.’
