The Gagosian gallery, in Paris, is celebrating the 100th anniversary of the birth of the photographer who died in 2004. Richard Avedon would have been 100 years old on May 15, 2023.
He died at work of a stroke at age 81 in 2004, during a final report on the presidential campaign in Texas for the prestigious magazine The New Yorker. He made moving portraits of his severe father, a model of a ‘self-made man’ and stubborn integration.
