Pianist Grégory Privat named best musician of the year by the Jazz Academy. The 39-year-old artist is the fourth West Indian artist, after organist Eddy Louiss, pianist Alain Jean-Marie and singer Cécile McLorin Salvant.
The Django-Reinhardt prize is the most prestigious of an Academy created in 1954. The French Disk prize was awarded to pianist-conductor-arranger Laurent Cugny for Tentet Zeitgeist.
