A French teacher from a high school in Seine-Saint-Denis found herself confronted with a practical case. During a school trip, one of her students showed up wearing an abaya.
“I didn’t even think to ask him to take it off. We were in a public space, outside of school time, and the students were there on a voluntary basis, reacts this teacher. I didn't ask her the question, but if I had demanded that she take off her abaya, I think she would have given up on this cultural outing," she says.
