The American Paramount Global has announced the resale of Simon & Schuster. Its publishing group, the fourth largest in the world, houses a stable of best-selling authors such as Francis Scott Fitzgerald, Ernest Hemingway and Hillary Clinton.

The German giant Bertelsmann, owner of the world leader in publishing, Penguin Random House (PRH), was preparing to get its hands on Simon and Schuster for $ 2.2 billion. It believed that the juggernaut resulting from this merger risked reducing the number of books published, disrupting the price of books.
