Prosopometamorphopsia (PMO) is an unusual condition in which sufferers see other people's faces in a distorted form. A team of scientists from Dartmouth College in the US have visualized the faces described as "demonic" by a 58-year-old patient using his perceptions.

For the first time, this enables people who are not affected to gain an insight into this subjective visual impairment. PMO is a disorder of the visual system – not a psychiatric illness. The findings of the study should help in the treatment and diagnosis of perceptual disorders in other patients in the future.
