Israels and Sabra Medicine joined forces in 2007 to provide a supportive framework for those coping with ALS (muscular dystrophy) There are about 600 patients living in Israel. 120 patients are diagnosed every year and a similar number of patients die from the disease.
Israel has a law that allows ALS patients to receive home hospice services fully funded by all HMOs. The service includes a permanent team of doctor, nurse and social worker, who respond to all the patient's needs, provide support to the family, and are available to them 24/7.
