Remains of a Roman military camp from about 1800 years ago were uncovered near Tel Megiddo - voila! tourism. Remains of the camp of the 6th Legion, known as the "Iron Legion" (Prata), were uncovered in an excavation near the site of the ancient Legio/Kfar Otanei.
The excavation, under the management of Dr. Yotam Teper and Barak Tzin, and funded by the Israel Routes Company, is part of a project to regularize Highway 66.
