Russia's manufacturing index grows sharply. The seasonally adjusted index stood at 55.7 last month compared to 54.7 in February.

Demand from abroad is improving with new export orders growing for the first time since last October. Employment is also rising at the fastest pace since November 2000 and business confidence is rising with companies reporting their highest level of optimism in five years. The Russian manufacturing sector recorded a marked improvement in March, achieving its best result since August 2006.
