In 2022 the average salary in Italy stood at 31.5 thousand euros gross per year, a significantly lower level than those in Germany and French. A greater share of unskilled professions, the high incidence of involuntary part-time work (57.9%) and fixed-term work with a strong work discontinuity are among the causes of low wages in Italy.
