Sergio Alfieri is the surgeon who operated again on Pope Francis at the Policlinico Gemelli in Rome. The surgeon to date has conducted more than 9000 operations and comes from the direct line and the school of surgeons close to the pontiffs.

Alfieri in particular has dedicated himself to colorectal surgery, developing minimally invasive techniques (laparoscopic and robotic) with a percentage that today stands at 85%. He is also an expert in pancreatic surgery, acute pancreatitis, stomach surgery and abdominal and pelvic mass surgery.
