The Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA) warns of an increase in cases of the scam. It is best not to get involved in the conversation in the first place, the experts advise. If the call fraudsters pretend to be a trusted person, those affected should call them at the known number. Seniors in particular fall for the tricks, says the BKA.
