A Mississippi police officer has been suspended after shooting an 11-year-old African-American man as he responded to a domestic violence call. The boy's mother, Nakala Murry, said her son Aderrien was shot once in the chest and has a collapsed lung, fractured ribs and a torn liver.

The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation said it "is currently evaluating this incident and gathering evidence, and a Murry family attorney has revealed that the police officer who shot him, Greg Capers, has been suspend pending an investigation.
