Uruguayan Aviation Society has started procedures for a new flag airline. The new airline will be based in Montevideo and will have a fleet of six Airbus aircraft.

It will replace Amaszonas, which stopped operating in 2021. The decision was made due to financial and property insolvency of the company. It is hoped that the process will be completed within a reasonable period of time, says the Deputy Minister of the Interior, Luis Lacalle Pou. He adds that the government will support the new airline if it succeeds.
