Kyotographie is a small miracle of a photo festival created against adversity in 2013 by two artists, two intrepid, the French Lucille Reyboz and the Japanese Yusuke Nakanishi. In 2013, there were only a handful of volunteers – the few artists, their curators and a small, close-knit Japanese-dominated team – to bring this event to life.

The atmosphere was at the community full of ideals. Six months before its tragic end, on December 11, 2013, Jane Birkin's eldest daughter, Kate Berry, made the trip to Kyoto.
